Surface radiowave polarimia technology of searching and prospecting underground waters

$9 000 (standart complectation)
Introduction
This technology is one of distant, ecologically clean, efficient and precise methods of
field high-frequency electrical prospecting.
The technology includes: a GEOZOND - RCH device and a methodology of surveying and
processing the readings of the device.
The device has an autonomous electric power block. It consists of a generator, a
receiver with a digital registration block, antenna equipment, and a device for charging
accumulators. The weight of the device with the power blocks and antennas is no more than
16 kg.
Surveying is done by the profile method (the productivity is no less than 2000 linear
metre per working day in 3 stages). The other method of surveying is horizontal (the
productivity is no less than 1000 linear metre per working day). Both methods of surveying
can be done by two medium qualification operators. The results can be processed and
interpreted by one of the operators.
The technology has been widely piloted. It can be successfully used for doing the
following hydrogeological tasks:
- prospecting and estimating the depth of underground waters' bedding, evaluating their
productivity;
- prospecting, taking geometrical parameters and evaluating the productivity of an
accumulation of underground waters of lens or fissure and vein types;
- estimating the approximate lithological contents of rocks in an aeration area, in
waterbearing and waterproof layers, making maps of the elements of a waterbearing section
(sinking areas in a waterproof relief, fissure areas);
- evaluating the degree of underground waters' mineralisation.
The depth of prospecting in unsolid rocks with the specific resistance of 50-10000 O*m
is up to 25-100 metre, the minuteness of surveying the section is from 0.5 m.
The results of surveying on the points of the profile are presented as a two-dimension
matrix of figurative lines of spreading electrophysical or wave characteristics of the
environment.
There is software for computer processing the results and simplified processing the
results in an analogous way. For some recent years the GEOZOND - RCH device has been used for solving geological,
hydrogeological, geoecological, archaeological problems and problems in engineering
geology. The methodology was used for prospecting underground waters in several regions in
the Turkmen Republic, as well as for doing geological tasks in the layer
"Rudnichnoye" in Sverdlovsk region, in east Baikal region (Sayany), in
Vyazemskoye GOK and in other regions. It was also used for prospecting surplus damping
areas along the Moscow Railway. In the mining areas of the enterprise
"Gips-Knauf" there were found plots subject to underground waters breaks. This
methodology has been applied at more than a hundred plots for prospecting waterbearing
veins and lens and autonomous water supplies with the water found at the depth of 4 to 50
m.
The facts written above are not exhaustive. The list of tasks, which can be done with
the help of this technology, can be widened extensively.
General information
The technology includes: a GEOZOND - RCH device and a methodology of surveying and
processing the readings of the device.
The device consists of a generator, a receiver with a digital registration block,
antenna equipment, and a charging device. There are several versions of the device with
different frequency ranges and some construction alterations. The device has an
independent electric power block for 8-hour continuous work without charging the
accumulators. The weight of the device with the power block and antennas is no more than
15 kg.
The transmitter of the device can be connected with two pairs of symmetrical vibrators
with their in turn commutation for measuring polarisation characteristics. The receiver
can accept an additional frame antenna.
The digital registration block of the receiver provides automatic commutation of the
measures, indication, memorisation, storing, observing and transmitting information in a
standard interface to a personal computer.
Surveying is done by the profile method and the horizontal method or their alterations.
The results of surveying are presented as a two-dimension matrix of figurative lines of
geophysical parameters in a profile or a horizontal surface at a given depth. The
discreteness of the matrix depends on the required minuteness of the information and on
the measuring parameters (frequency of electromagnetic oscillations, observation pace).
Co-ordinates of the points in the matrix are identified horizontally by the position of
the middle of the device (the distance between the geometrical centres of the receiver and
transmitter antennas), and vertically by the depth h, which is calculated as the radius of
the zone essential for spreading and reflecting radio waves.
The technology is defined from other classical georadar technologies by its extensive
information and measuring capacities and the depth of prospecting.
Operations
The device GEOZOND-RCH is intended for generating electromagnetic fields of transversal
and longitudinal polarisation and measuring the components of the electromagnetic field at
different distance between the generator and the receiver and at different frequencies. It
can solve the following engineering tasks:
- prospecting areas for building constructions, roads, bridges with the aim of identifying
tectonically weak places, areas of landslides and sink-holes; evaluating the stability of
waterbearing grounds;
- searching for hidden faults in hermetic liquid transporting systems;
- monitoring geoundersurface areas subject to weakening and destruction;
- making careful fault detection and evaluating the quality of motorways (transport
highways) under construction or functioning.
Spheres of application
Prospecting while/for designing and exploiting roads, highways, underground
constructions, and electrical power lines. Geological and hydrogeological prospecting.
Measuring capacities
The depth of surveying at the frequency of 1MHz is 15-20 m in unsolid rocks with the
specific resistance of 50-80 O*m and the minuteness of surveying is from 0.2 m.
